Beware of Soccer Registration
Author: Amber
What on earth??? Will ANYTHING ever be easy??? Holy cow soccer registration was a huge ridiculous joke. I am angry beyond any anger I’ve ever felt before…my shoulders and neck hurt and I’m shaking mad and I actually cried at the stupid place.
First of all, my kids were BRATS. Not poking each other and giggling brats, but ‘rolling all over the floor, running into strangers, hurting each other, pushing each other, touching the cords, wiggling the registration tables, making faces and spitting at me when I’m telling them to stop, trying to wake up Andrew who had (thankfully) fallen asleep’ brats. Like ALL OUT awful. The kind that you see on the nanny shows, or in Walmart misbehaving and think ‘Thank GOD that is NOT my child.’ At one point Josh was biting my purse.
Next the registering people were taking SO. DARN. LONG. to do everything. I was 4th in line and it took me over 40 minutes to get to the front to tell the guy Daniel and Josh’s name and address!
AND THEN
I had to go to a DIFFERENT line to pay! !!! What a joke! I stood there for another half hour to 40 minutes and there were only 2 people in front of me! When I got to the front, the lady who was taking the money went and had to deal with other people registering for a low-income thingy and so she just left, for OVER 10 MINUTES!!!
THEN she came back and said “I’m sorry; I don’t want you to have to stand here for a long time, how about you go over to that other line and pay there?” !!! So I had to stand behind ANOTHER 2 people and wait, thank goodness the people behind me went ahead and saved me a place while I tried to convince Daniel and Josh to STAND UP and stop laying on the floor and let go of the stroller so I could push it through the crowd to get over to the other line. By this time I was crying. I could not stop the tears and my face was doing that shaky thing like when you are trying not to cry. As if I wasn’t embarrassed enough at Daniel and Josh acting like total maniacs.
I got over there and waited again, and FINALLY got to pay. The lady took my cheque and said “You’re done.” But I didn’t have any info on when it starts, where, etc…so I asked about that and she looked at me like I was speaking another language. OH MY GOSH. Then the guy standing behind her gave me a booklet that I’m pretty sure only applies to older kids and I was on my way.
And if all that wasn’t enough, I actually had people asking me to hold their spots in line, and if they could borrow my cell phone. Don’t I look like I’m already in charge of too many things? LOL
Anyway, I got out to the parking lot, which was an absolute zoo, got the kids to the van without being run over, and into their seats and now Andrew is crying and Daniel is whining he has to pee and is hungry and Josh is just whining. Trying to get out of the parking lot took another while because apparently anyone can drive however they want in parking lots. A car almost turned into the side of my van, and then the driver glares at ME for it.
We get home, and into the house, and the outside light isn’t on, but every single light inside is on and it’s a huge mess because we were out during cleanup time. Honestly, it’s not happening tonight. I’ll wade through the piles and deal with it on Saturday, I guess.
I am *so* stressed it’s not even funny. If I hadn’t invested so much of my time standing in the stupid lines I would have just left. I actually wish that I hadn’t even gone.
The next few days should be fun too…I took away the boys TV time, movies, computer time and even the trip to see their cousins tomorrow (though I might have to go back on my word on that one since the reason we’re going is for ME to help out). I can’t believe I’m actually considering ever leaving the house with Daniel and Josh again, after the way they were tonight.
So, there it is, a really good example of why you should just let your kids stay at home and be lazy. Soccer is totally not worth registration night. They should have paid ME to come and deal with all that I did instead of it being the other way around. Next year I’ll go with the place that has online registration, even if I do have to drive to another quadrant of the city for the practices.

Oh my gosh! Poor you!
We haven’t registered for soccer yet.
I wonder why it is that when kids are excited about something (soccer, going someplace special . . . ) that they start misbehaving on a grand scale. It’s bad enough when it just happens at home! Noah was trying to bite my bum in the few hours that preceeding going to see the Pirates Who DOn’t Do Anything. Boys are weird.
I hope today’s a better day.
