Contact Conundrum
Author: Amber
Jon and I went in for eye checkups a few weeks ago. Jon wanted to get some new prescription sunglasses and I had just dried out my last pair of contacts (I really don’t know what was up with that case…).
All checked out well (YAY!) and our prescriptions are pretty much the same as they were before (YAY!) so getting new lenses is optional. Good news because then we can spend money on more frivolous things like sunglasses and contacts instead of the basic pair of glasses.
The doctor asked me how often I wore my contacts and I had to start trying to figure out if I should tell her the whole truth or not…I don’t really wear them often at all. I used to make an effort to get all dressed up for church, including putting in my contacts and putting on makeup, but that has fallen by the wayside and that meant that my monthly contacts were only getting worn about four times per month. But I would keep putting them back in until they wore out, so a 6-month supply would last me a year or two.
“Interesting,” the doctor said. “I think I’d like to get you wearing daily contacts. That way, you wear them once and throw them away and they aren’t just sitting in solution all week (or month).”
I really feel like daily contacts are such a waste. But in my case, it does make sense to just take a new pair once a week (or month) when I get around to actually getting them into my eyes. So, I agreed to try them and got some samples.
And here is where this becomes a problem. I LOVE my new contacts. They are Focus Dailies. They are the most comfy contacts that I have ever ever worn.
And I can see way better with them than I can see wearing my glasses.
Not a problem, right? What could possibly be wrong, then, right?
Well, today I am wearing my third pair…in less than one week.
This could get expensive.
