Big Girl Bed Part II

Goodbye sweet crib!
Well, after about five years and three children, this crib has headed off to crib heaven. We have had at least one crib in our possession since September of 2002, and now, no more. It is the end of an era.
First, I took off the affected side, intending to put on the toddler bed side that came with it. Of course, I had no luck finding the hardware necessary.
Jon suggested we just leave that one side off and that it would be sturdy enough, but we quickly realized that it would be safer for Claire to be in the actual bed that not only is lower to the floor, but also equipped with a rail to keep her from rolling off.
So I decided to say goodbye, and begin disassembly.
Claire protested the crib removal by spreading out on the mattress to keep me from taking it away. While she did that, I contemplated where I’d put all the stuff I was storing under the crib. Hmmmm…
We compromised and I moved all the frame parts out and let Claire keep her precious mattress. I think she was happy with her new floor-bed.
Claire did fantastically her first night out of the crib. She wasn’t ready to sleep in her new (old) bed, and instead chose her old (new) floor bed instead.
(Don’t worry, that outlet is covered with plugs that Claire can’t pull out yet.)
At bedtime, Claire went straight to bed. I put the gate in the door so she wouldn’t wander out and about, and went downstairs. Ten minutes later, Claire was crying for me at the gate. I cuddled her for a bit, and she got dozy in my arms and I was able to put her right back to bed.
And that is where she stayed, all the way until morning.

Ah, so sweet. So, is she still on the “floor bed”?
