12,000 Days?

Author: Jon

Josh asked me this morning how many days old he was and that led me to look up how old I am. As of today I am exactly 12,000 days old. What have I accomplished in those days?

I have lived in 19 homes, 7 communities, 4 provinces. Apartments, townhouses, condos, houses, renting and owning.

I’ve attended 7 schools over 17 years. I’ve regularly attended (not just visited) 8 churches.

I have voted in 5 federal elections and 4 provincial elections.

I’ve drunk less than a case of beer but likely a swimming pool of pop.

I’ve visited 7 foreign countries and have played my trumpet in all of them. I will add an eighth in less than 70 days but not likely bring my trumpet.

I’ve learned to ride a bike, drive a car, operate a forklift, paddle a canoe, sail a boat, ride a horse, and fly a hang glider — to various levels of competency.

I’ve owned 4 vehicles ranging from a cute little green 2 door named Bronwyn to Malachaila, our current van.

I’ve had a couple dogs, a cat, 2 gerbils and 2 hamsters but not for over 6000 days.

I’ve broken three bones but that was only in the last 400 days. I’ve had stitches at least 4 times but that was all in my first 4000 days. I haven’t had any operations or long hospital visits.

I have worked for 10 companies varying in size from 3 employees to over 50,000. I’ve held jobs for 1 day and over 6 years. I’ve sold basketballs, sidewalk blocks, batteries, music books, and suits. I’ve delivered newspapers and painted parking blocks. I’ve packed and shipped mufflers, fence posts, and choir music. I’ve helped people worship and use their BlackBerrys.

As far as I remember I’ve been to 15 weddings including playing trumpet at 2, officiating at 1, and being the groom at 1. 2 of them had the same bride. I can remember 6 funerals for people I knew well and I assisted at several others while working at a church with many seniors.

I have grown to over 30 times my original size and then lost 15% of that again (and counting).

I’ve been with Amber for 5423 days, over 45% of my life. I’ve helped create 4 beautiful new people.

Pretty busy I guess, but it’s that last group of accomplishments I’m most proud of.

Eats, shoots, and leaves. I am particularly interested in the worshipping of Blackberries gig.
I have been circulating on the planet for 20,128 days and been married for 12,191 (60.5% of my life) to my 19,328 day old beloved.
