The Cutest Girl
Author: Amber
Lately I’ve been calling Claire ‘cute’ a lot. Like, ‘every second sentence’ a lot. If Jon wasn’t here witnessing it for himself, I’m sure I’d be driving him crazy. But it’s true - every time she opens her adorable little mouth pure cuteness comes pouring out.
There are the times when I’m asking her brothers to do something, like come upstairs for supper. Claire is right there beside me, calling, “SUPPER!” She helps with everything she can. She clears her dishes, she brings her brothers their clothes if they walk away without putting them on, and she hugs them when they cry.
Today I asked Andrew to find a marker and Claire stopped what she was doing to find the two markers she had seen on the floor, pick them up and bring them right over to me, chanting, “marker, marker”.
She is quick to clean up when asked, and when she hits, she says sorry by reaching out and rubbing the arm of the one whom she wronged. If she is the one wronged, she makes sure everyone knows that she is not happy by yelling, “bad boy!” (Thanks to her big brother Andrew for that one
).
Claire spends most of the day singing. She sings the Star Wars theme, and she sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. When she is just wandering around, she will sing what she sees, making songs about babies, Daddy, or the rest of her family.
I LOVE this age. I LOVE seeing the language explosion she is going through. She is so smart and cute and funny and I just can’t get enough of her. There is so much that she knows and she shocks me every minute with what she can do; what she understands.
Even after seeing three other children go through this, I’m still so in awe of the miracle of it all. It is just plain cute. Every single minute of it.
Of course it all is made even cuter by Claire’s toddler waddle. She walks like an Ewok. Is there anything cuter than an Ewok waddling around singing about babies? I think not.
I so wish I could take a video of this and share it with all of you. Even if you don’t think it’s the cutest thing you’ve ever seen, at the very least, it would make you smile. Hopefully one day I’ll get that video…for now every attempt fails because as soon as Claire sees the camera, she stops whatever she is doing and yells, “CHEEEEEEEEEEESE!” while running toward me and flashing the biggest smile she can muster.
Aaaaaaaaah, my funny little girl. She’s so cute.
