Goodbye Summer Schedule!
Author: Amber
This summer I figured I would make a schedule for us to follow daily and post it on the fridge so we could all hold each other to it. What an amazingly wonderful idea that was!
The result was better-behaved children who kept busy and asked to do chores for me. I was not frazzled or frustrated. My living room was kept clean (vacuuming was a popular chore choice among the boys).
We have been away for most of the summer, but the schedule worked wonders almost immediately, and then when we got home from vacation, the boys picked right back up on it with excitement (and no prompting from me).
Love it.
What is this magical summer schedule, you ask (even though the summer is over because my kids go back to school next week)? Well, I’m glad to share it.
08:00 - Breakfast/TV time
09:00 - Make beds, get dressed
09:30 - Outing (Playdate, Park, Zoo, Library, Shopping, etc.)
10:30 - Snack
12:00 - Home for Lunch
13:00 - Quiet time in rooms
14:00 - Craft/Movie/Baking/Letter Writing/Etc.
15:00 - Chore (Choose from: tidy living room, tidy entry, vacuum, unload dishwasher, wash walls, fold laundry)
15:30 - Snack
15:45 - Wii
16:30 - Play in basement or yard
17:30 - Dinner
18:30 - Play in basement or yard (or have movie night in case of rain
)
19:30 - Bath/Wash up/Pajamas/Stories/Brush teeth/Pee

I am just a little bit excited to stick to scheduling and make up a new one for the school year. I hope I can make one up that the kids transition to well; a smooth life with kids is really really good.
