Day Thirteen - Winnipeg, Manitoba
Last night rocked. We watched Confessions of a Shopaholic (cute movie) and then slept all night long, uninterrupted, in a bed that did not contain a child. There was no pushing or kicking or waking up and moving to another bed. Definitely a restful time!
We breakfasted (is that a word?) at the restaurant in the hotel - another one with memories attached. As I looked across the room, my mind could see the two young couples sitting there with their baby boys, just over a year old. There was a proud young grandpa there too, visiting from Calgary. Wow, life was simple back then…for all of us. Five children more and one divorce later, that scene can never be re-created; that moment can never be had back.

After breakfast, we intended to take another dip in the mineral pools, but the thought of donning cold wet swimsuits was not appealing, so we headed back to the lobby with our computer. Check out time was 12:00, which left us two hours before the start of our movie. We did some more driving around and shopping and ended up buying eleven books from the Christian bookstore (they were having a 5 for $20 sale). If the books I chose are any help to me, I should have an organized life, organized house and well-mannered children by the end of September! Guess I should get reading!
We took in Star Trek at the IMAX theatre downtown and it was amazing! Tear-jerking, real, and a fantastic storyline that is easy to follow. It draws you in even though you know how it will turn out. I have to say that even though I’ve been to an IMAX theatre before, I was NOT prepared for the size of the screen. WOW!

Our plans for the evening included dinner at Nana Pat’s house, so we made our way over there, picking up pizza and a slurpee on the way (I’m actually amazed that we made it there safely with the horrendous amount of bad drivers we came across, but that’s another post for another time.).
Dinner was yummy, visiting was nice and we were actually able to get our kids into bed at a reasonable time, which I appreciated. They seem to be doing okay with the late nights, but I’m wondering if their clocks are being shifted and if they will be a handful to get back on schedule when we get home. I hope not because we worked hard for the schedule we have!
