July 22: Day Seven

Day Seven – Winnipeg, Manitoba

Today we met our friend, Lee-Ann, and her kids, at a splash pad in the city. It was fabulous! We arrived close to opening time while the water was still cold and there was plenty of space to spread out blankets on the grass near the pool. The sun was shining and it was really warm out (dare I say hot?).

The kids hit it off and everyone had a blast playing together while Claire and I sat on the edge of the pool and chatted with Lee-Ann and her youngest. After a while we left the pool area to lunch at the nearby picnic tables. The kids ate, then went to play at one of the playgrounds in the park. When I walked by, they were re-enacting scenes from Star Wars…how great it is to find another boy who loves Star Wars as much as mine!

There was much more pool time after that; and time spent playing at the other playground in the park. When everyone was starting to feel worn out and too hot in the sun, we all climbed back into our vans and headed home. Some people had naps, and others played quietly for the rest of the afternoon. It was truly a great day!
