July 13: We leave in two days…

…and I have all of the kids clothes packed. As soon as it stops raining, I’ll put them into the van. I’m doing it this way - gradually - for two reasons. One, so that the stuff that is packed is out of the way of my feet and safe from little hands unpacking it; and two, so that anyone who might be watching us doesn’t see a mass exodus of us packing up half of our belongings and leaving town for weeks. I’m just paranoid about stuff like that (which is why our trip blog entries will be published after we’ve returned from our trip…don’t need everyone to know we aren’t home!).

Anyway, I decided to pack for the kids in 2 short, clear rubbermaid totes so I can see what is in there and grab what is necessary.

Hubby and I will share a suitcase of our own.

I think that this way we won’t have 5+ little bags of clothes that we have to dig through to find the right thing or fit into the back of the van in just the right way like a jigsaw puzzle that changes daily! Also, there will be enough room in the back of our van that we’ll be able to safely and easily store any treasures we might pick up along the way.

I’m looking forward to seeing what those treasures might be!
