Tuesday Randoms
Author: Amber
Copying the “Tuesday Randoms” idea from Kim over at Beautiful Wreck…what better way than this to get down all those little things that you think are not really worthy of individual blog posts, but you want to remember them forever, all the same?
Here we go…
I think that Magna Doodle drawing boards by Fisher Price are the best kids toy ever! I am pretty sure that we have gone through at least 50 in the past 7 years. And none of them were lost…just used until they didn’t work anymore! We’ve purchased brand new ones for the kids for our summer vacation. They are pumped.

Claire stood by herself last night, for the first time ever, totally unsupported by anyone or anything but her own chubby little leggies. Today she has a new found interest in walking holding our hands, and her walking toys. Maybe she WILL walk before she is two!
My boys all walked before their first birthday (D - 11.5 mos, J - 10.5 mos, A - 11 mos) so Claire’s waiting to take her first unassisted steps has me on the edge of my seat, waiting with great anticipation (she is 13.5 months old)!

I made up a summer schedule for the kids to keep them busy this year and wow, it is working out fantastically! After only 3 weeks of vacation, they are now following the schedule with minimal assistance from me! They will stay in their rooms at quiet time, and do their chores at chore time. Today Daniel made all 6 beds (Claire has 2 beds) and completely headed up craft time by cleaning off the table, taking out all the materials and creating an example of the craft before leading his brothers through the drawing, colouring, cutting and taping of it all. I’m so proud of him!

Joshua got a wonderful surprise in the mail today - a postcard from his best buddy, H, who is spending the summer in Algeria! It made the whole family happy to see that little piece of cardboard.

Andrew has started recognizing letters, writing and reading out of nowhere!

Claire is such a girl! She loves purses, babies, shopping, trying on clothes, and hair pretties (even if they don’t stay in her hair). She is a princess who insists she gets her way…and FAST. She loves her mommy and holds on tight. She loves kids, playing outside, cooking and exploring. She sings, dances and flirts. She adores her brothers and asks for them the second she wakes up and can say Andrew and Daniel quite well. She has mastered the “Daddy, please call me cute and give me anything I want” look too. She uses it on all 5 of us…with a high rate of success.

I feel like I need to clarify that the last post I made wasn’t intended to offend anyone. I’ve gotten the impression that I have hurt feelings and made people angry by it. This is the reason that I feel the need to shelter some of my posts. I hope that anyone I’ve hurt will accept this apology - I’m sorry!

I have to admit that I am less than pleased with the weather we’ve been dealt this summer. I do not like to be outside, but I DO do it anyway for my kids (yes, I’m a good mother like that
). Now, if we could just get some sunshine that lasts at least all morning and some nice hot temperatures so we can wear shorts in the mornings too, that would be FAB!

Didn’t you know, we already had summer. It’s over. We had one day back in May and that’s it.
Did you blink? Because I know I did lol

It’s been about three weeks since I’ve used a computer. It is so awesome to catch up with you and your beautiful family again.
Looking forward to a girls night or book club or some such thing.
Your posts have brought a tear to my eye.
I’m in Kelowna at Janeen and Tasa’s watching a forest fire burn on a nearby mountain. Really close. Smoke is thick in the air. A bit scary, but so far we are safe.
I’ll be back in Calgary next week.
Bye for now.
