Beaker Bop 2 - Level 4

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Things you need to know for this level:

  • Springs bouncing on other springs give you higher jumps.

How we pass it:
Hop up the five stairs onto the platform with the yellow spring. Then push the spring down onto the bottom two springs. They will start bouncing really high. Then carefully fall down onto the pile of bouncing springs. Then jump over to the green spring sitting by itself. And then up to the Alchemist.

Other ways:
You can collect the waters on your way up but be careful because the Alchemist seems to throw lots of beakers on this level.

Summary:
The stack of three springs is kinda wobbly. if you move left or right while you are on it, they can fall off. It takes practice to time that big jump just right so you don’t end up on the springs. If you miss the jump but don’t die, try to climb back up and get on from the top again.

If you guys are enjoying these hints and getting use from them, please email Daniel at monstercookies.ca and let him know.

Beaker Bop 2 - Level 3

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Things you need to know for this level:

  • Boxes can be moved by conveyor belts

How we pass it:
As soon as the level starts, run to the right as fast as you can. You need to get over to the right side before the boxes fall and block you in. It is possible to climb up the left side and squeeze between the little blocks but it’s way easier to sneak underneath right at the beginning.

Now you need to climb up to the top. The spikes on the lower blocks are bad news so you have to make your own staircase. Hop onto the right side of the lower platform with the box. Hang it off the left side. Then hop up to the next level using the little step stuck to the right wall. Drop the box down onto the lower one. Scootch it over to the left. Then go up and get the top one and drop it down. Then you should have a nice little staircase leading up to the step in the middle of the screen.

Now hop up onto the two middle steps and then down onto the little staircase-shaped stack. Climb up and jump onto the top platform with the spring and push it down onto the lower step. Watch out because it seems that the Alchemist always throws a beaker at you when you are standing up there. Jump down and use the spring to bounce up to the final platform.

Other ways:
If you get stuck on the left side or in the middle, just keep trying to jump up and out. Look for a hole that is tall enough to fit Larry-Boy and aim for it.

Summary:
Just make sure you are hitting that right arrow as soon as the level starts and you’ll make it though. Watch out for the beakers on the floor - sometimes there will be 2 or 3 of them bouncing back and forth. And watch for a beaker coming at your head as you finish. We’ve got hit lots while pushing the spring down and even jumping off the spring.

Beaker Bop 2 - Level 2

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Things you need to know for this level:

  • You can push boxes up short stairs.
  • Boxes can bounce on springs.

How we pass it:
First you need to flip the positions of the box and spring on the left side. Jump at the spring from the left. You want to push it onto the platform and let the box drop to the floor. It will probably take 3 or 4 jump-pushes. Then you can hop up through the hole and push the spring off the left side so it’s sitting on top of the box. Collect the two bottom waters and then push the box/spring pile over to the left side - just past the edge of the top platform.

Then jump up and get the top water and push the whole stack of boxes down to the bottom platform. Hop down and push them to the right. They will easily climb up the stairs. When you get to the opening above you, push the middle and top boxes over a little bit to make a staircase of boxes. Then you can climb up this staircase to get to the right box/spring. You can push that pile across to the little L platform over your staircase. Depending on how far you pushed over your staircase, the box might drop down. That’s okay. You really just need the spring over there. Now you can get your water and hop to get the Alchemist.

Other ways:
You can make your staircase while the boxes are still at the top and then push the whole thing from the bottom box.

We used to do it a longer way involving pushing the straight stack of boxes over to make a bridge and then going all the way back down and using the bottom box/spring to hop up the right side by the spikes.

Summary:
Pretty straight-forward. The first step of getting the spring on top of the box is kinda tricky at first. You also want to be really careful on the top left platform and when you are pushing the stack over cause the Alchemist will throw a beaker right at you when you aren’t paying attention.

If you guys are enjoying these hints and getting use from them, please email Daniel at monstercookies.ca and let him know.

Beaker Bop 2 - Level 1

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Beaker Bop post but Jon was looking at the incoming links for this site and almost every day someone is coming here after searching for Beaker Bop. So, we should finish up what we started.

For those of you are just joining us, click on the Video Games category in the right sidebar to see all our other posts about this fun Veggie Tales game. The first thing you’ll see when you open Beaker Bop 2 is a login screen asking for the password. This the password you got when you passed Beaker Bop 1. If you forgot it or are skipping straight to the second one, the password is: PLUNGER. (Highlight to read). This brings us to Stage 1

Things you need to know for this level:

  • The lever on the floor makes a gate go up or down. This one controls the gate on the first long platform.
  • The beakers are red but still just as dangerous.

How we pass it:
Go to the right side of the stacked platforms. Don’t worry about the lever on this one, it moves the gate up but we are going to jump past it anyway. Climb up to the second platform and push the box to hang off the left side. Then come back over and jump onto the right side of the third platform and push the box off onto the one hanging below it. Then just wait for the path to be clear from beakers and hop up to the Alchemist

Other ways:
Jon always likes to get the orange life beaker at the top. To do this, wait patiently on the third platform until the Alchemist throws a beaker down, instead of across to the Life (like the picture). Then use the spring to hop up and run across to the life. If the Alchemist happens to throw a beaker in after you and traps you, make sure you get the Life first and then you are starting over with the same amount of lives anyway.

Beaker Bop 1 - Level 5

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Things you need to know for this level

  • If you time your bounces just right on a spring, you can get really high .

How we pass it:

This is easy. Jump over the conveyor belts onto the spring in the bottom right corner. Then bounce on the bottom row of springs all the way to the left side. Then up to the top row and jump on them over to the Alchemist. Then you’ve passed all of Beaker Bop 1.

Other ways:

Sometimes if you get a really good double bounce off the fourth spring from the left on the bottom row, you can make it all the way up onto the third spring on the top row.

Summary:

This level is pretty easy. There’s not much planning or tricky parts. The hardest part is watching out for the beakers because there’s nowhere for you to run.

p.s. See you on Beaker Bop 2 next time.

Beaker Bop 1 - Level 4

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Things you need to know for this level

  • You can push a whole stack of boxes at once.

How we pass it:

First jump up the left stairs and jump up to the next flight of stairs. Then jump off onto the green spring and bounce down to get the waters. Then jump up and onto the next spring and up to the top platform. Push all three boxes down onto the low platform.

Then hop down to the left of the boxes and push the whole stack over to the right edge of the platform. Then hop out onto the lower right stairs. Use the springs in the corner to get up to the other boxes (get the waters on your way up). Push the left box down onto the stairs. Go down and shove it to the left - up against the stair. Then go back up and push the last box down onto it. The screen should look something like this:

Then you can push the top box onto your stack. If you stand on the edge of the fourth box, you can have enough room to get up to the last flight of stairs.

Other ways:

Daniel likes to make a staircase of boxes by hanging them on each other. Either way, the important part is getting the top of the three boxes close enough for the fourth one to land on.

Summary:

This is the trickiest level on Beaker Bop 1 and takes a little bit of practice. Watch out for the beakers - especially if you are trying to get the waters in the middle on the bottom.

Beaker Bop 1 - Level 3

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Things you need to know for this level

  • No new things on this level

How we pass it:

Climb up the left side all the way to the top. Run off the top platform and hold the right arrow. You will usually fall all the way down and land to the right of the spikes. Sometimes you might make it to the conveyor belt.

Next, get the waters from the bottom. There should be enough there to get you a new life. Then, hop up to the long platform and push the box to the right just far enough so you can jump over it. Then push it all the way back to the left and hang it a little bit off the edge. Then jump on your hanging box and hop up to the platform with the other box. Push it down into the little hole. Then hop over to the right of the yellow spring and push it on top of the box - or even onto the platform to the left of the box. Then just jump up.

Other ways:

Jon used to do it the hard way before Daniel taught him to push the box down. You can hang the spring so it’s just barely on the platform and then jump up and do an “S-Curve”. We’ll talk about this technique on a later level but it’s basically jumping up and then changing direction mid-air.

You can also try jumping from the middle platform that’s across from the conveyor belt but sometimes you’ll fall on the spikes. It’s safer to go from the very top.

Summary:

Once you get past the spikes, the level is pretty easy. Just make sure you get the waters because a bonus life may come in handy later. :)

Beaker Bop 1 - Level 1

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

First you need to learn how to play, so we will help you with that. Your job is to get up to the Alchemist in the top right hand corner. You have to avoid the dark blue beakers that Alchemist throws.

Things you need to know for this level:

  • The spikes on the floor will kill you. You have to jump over them with the space bar.
  • The light blue round beakers are water. If you collect 10 waters, you get a life.
  • The green springs will make you jump high.
  • The wooden boxes can be pushed.
  • Sometimes the Alchemist throws water jugs instead of dangerous beakers. On our picture, the jug on the springs is one that he threw. You don’t have to worry about those ones. They won’t hurt you.

How we pass it:
Go across the bottom and jump over the spikes. Collect the water from the bottom corner. Hop up onto the little platform and jump onto the long one. Jump over the hole and go all the way to the left side. Jump onto the little platform again and then up to the one with the springs.

Use the springs to help you jump up and get the waters on the left. Then bounce back down off the springs onto the top platform. Then just hop to the backwards L-shaped platform to pass the level.

Other ways:
You can get the last water if you want by pushing the box all the way to right and hopping over it when you have enough room above you. Then to get out, you can either push the box out again or hop over it.

Summary:
This is the easiest level but it takes a while to get used to jumping at the right time. Especially when you are jumping over a beaker. You can sometimes jump a little higher if you “double-jump”. Jump and then time your second jump just right and you can jump higher and farther. Good luck.

Beaker Bop

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Daniel has mentioned several times on the podcast that he is a big fan of games on the computer. He mostly loves small mini-games but one that has been his favourite, and has become a fun game for me and his grandpa too, is Beaker Bop. It’s found on the Veggie Tales website at http://www.bigideafun.com/larryboy/arcade/beakerbop/info.htm

It’s a platform game, similar in style to the original Donkey Kong in that you need to make your way up the screen to stop the villain from throwing things at you and when you get there, he escapes and you need to do it again on another level. There are actually 3 different games (two sequels) , consisting of 20 levels. We spent months trying to pass it and looked online to find hints for certain levels. Because there was nothing, Daniel and I decided to put our guide to this game on the website. So, every day or two, we’ll walk you through another level of Beaker Bop, Beaker Bop 2, and Beaker Bop 3.
